‘Snorkel’ by Jude Broughan

In assemblages and photo collages, New York-based New Zealand-born artist Jude Broughan draws on the languages of painting and printmaking alongside those of photography and collage to play with space and form, line and color. In ‘Snorkel’, her use of stitching divides our attention between the physicality of the art object and the patterning of its surface. Broughan is interested in the processes and associations of movement, travel, relocation, and the process of understanding one place, one time—and, by extension, one state of being—through allusion to myriad alternatives. Jude lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
